Policy and Compliance

The Snack Shack must comply with the policies and procedures of P&C Qld's Accounting Manual for Parents and Citizens' Associations.
In 2016, changes were made to the way some food and drinks are classified under Smart Choices to align more closely with the National Healthy School Canteens Guidelines and the Australian Dietary Guidelines.
After a massive overhaul of our menu in mid-late 2016, we can proudly say that our Snack Shack complies with the current Smart Choices - Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools. As of 2017, Smart Choices is mandatory in State Schools, applies to all situations where food and drink is supplied in the school environment including Tuckshops.
Our Snack Shack Convenor works hard and creatively to adhere to the new changes to Smart Choices and entice our students to try new and healthier snacks, meals and drinks.
Our Snack Shack menu provides healthy food and drink choices that are tasty, interesting and affordable, and provides the means to put into practice nutrition messages taught in the classroom.
  • Our current scrumptious menu is jam packed full of "green" healthy products.
  • Also included in our menu are "amber" foods that should be eaten in moderation.
  • 'Red" products e.g. soft drink and fatty food are not recommended on Tuckshop menu's and are not to be supplied on more than two occasions per term.
