Woombye Curriculum (Introduction)Woombye State School has altered the way in which it now delivers curriculum. As a whole school team (during 2nd Semester 2007) we decided that there was not enough curriculum rigor and continuity throughout all of our year levels and that “deep learnings” weren’t occurring in all Key Learning Areas (KLA’s) – English, Maths, Science, SOSE, The Arts, Technology, LOTE and HPE.
At Woombye State School our units now not only contain more relevant and comprehensive curriculum components but are also better aligned to the assessment that students undertake. They are also aligned to QCAR reporting standards. (See QCAR Information Brochure).
Education Queensland has mandated that “The Essential Learnings” are now our core curriculum focus within all schools across the state. Our staff has embraced these and have been producing well planned integrated units on a variety of themes across Years 1-7.
At Woombye State School, we pride ourself on our open door policy which allows for staff, parents and the wider community to express their support and concerns of the school. School/Parent Partnerships are paramount and are welcomed through the year. We begin each year with parent teacher meetings which allow parents to have an insight into their child’s classroom. We are appreciative and value any further support that our parents can contribute through the year.
Please contact the school if you would like to discuss curriculum issues further.
