This term has been one of the most difficult terms that I have seen any school endure in a long time. It is only through the strength and quality of our staff, students and community members that we have continued to move forward positively through all the challenges presented before us.
I would like to sincerely thank every individual, staff member, student, parent or community member who rallied behind and supported our school during the recent loss of our wonderful Mr T. The support given by each person has enabled our school to move forward positively, keeping in mind the wonderful legacy that Mr T has left behind and an inspiration to each of us. A special thankyou to everyone involved in our school’s Memorial Service for Mr T as it was a wonderful way to pay tribute to a person who gave so much to our school.
Our school has also endured the ongoing confusion and discomfort associated with extensive building works around our school. The new hall and library facilities are coming along beautifully but the construction is still causing added disruption to our normal programs and I do thank everyone’s support and understanding during this period of short pain for a long term gain.
On the up side, the past few weeks in our classrooms I have had the privilege of witnessing some great celebrations of students’ work. The Year Ones Circus Performance with Ms Muller and Mrs Parry was fantastic while the Year Fives hosted a wonderful morning for visitors, sharing their knowledge about energy matters. Our Year Six students presented their latest engineering feats with incredible bridges that would even make qualified engineers proud of. It is a true test of our schools’ capabilities that our students are able to produce such great work in the midst of tragedies and adversities. It is also fantastic to see the number of parents and extended family members who come along to celebrate these occasions with us at our school.
Also this week, the School NAPLAN Results were released. I am pleased to report that our school achieved exceptionally well in most areas. Such were our results that we received a letter for our Premier, the Hon. Mrs Anna Blight and our Minister for Education, the Hon. Mr Geoff Wilson congratulating Woombye State School on our superb efforts. Well done all concerned.
Thankyou to everyone for your involvement in our school during this past term and we look forward to this continuing during Term Four. |
